The Commissionerate Police on Thursday has arrested three robbers, who looted Rs 5.33 lakh from a businessman in JP Nagar at gunpoint on February 1, after an encounter and seized two .32 bore pistols, seven live, and two empty cartridges besides cash of Rs 3.40 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh Guri (21), Bobby (22), and Inderjeet Singh (19) of Mithu Basti locality.
Disclosing more information, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that three bike-borne robbers had snatched a bag containing Rs 5.33 lakh from a businessman Gagan Arora of JP Nagar at gunpoint around 7 pm on February 1. A case under sections 379-B of IPC and 25, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act was registered on his complaint.
He said on receiving the information about the robbery, several teams including CIA staff-1, Special Operation Unit, and Basti Bawa Khel Police Station were set up to crack the robbery which scanned hundreds of CCTV cameras and carried out the technical probe in scientific and highly professional manner.
He further said that today based on the inputs from the probe, a team of CIA Staff-1 led by Sub-Inspector Harminder Singh arrested one of the accused Gurpreet Guri outside the judicial complex, and later, other police teams had laid a trap outside the houses of the remaining accused.
Commissioner of Police revealed that when two accused Bobby and Inderjeet tried to flee away on FZ bike (PB08-CF (T)-0343), the cops tried to block their way but suddenly Bobby opened two fires on the police party but was later apprehended near cardboard factor in New Raj Nagar after a brief chase. The cops nabbed Inderjeet from the same locality by another police team, he added.
He said that a separate case under the attempt to murder charges has been registered against both of them in Basti Bawa Khel Police Station.

Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said Guri has already been facing a criminal case in Basti Bawa Khel Police station and cash of Rs 3.40 lakh has been seized from their houses.
He said that with the arrest of three of them, the cops had also busted a robbery of Rs 80000 from Nikhil Kumar of Kishanpura in Mission Compound on October 21, 2020 and had spent Rs 60000 on purchasing above mentioned two pistols from Bihar.
The Commissioner also said that he would recommend the names of the police officials for the DGP’s coveted Disc Award who cracked the robbery
