Further tightening noose around the gangsters the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has arrested two dreaded gangsters of Goldy Brar gang after a fierce encounter in which one of them was injured.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that Police had got a tip off that two notorious gangsters Balraj Singh and Pawan Kumar, who were involved in heinous crimes such as snatching, attempted murder and others were roaming in the city. He said that these key members of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang, were planning to commit a major crime after which the police party set up a nakabandi with barricades. Mr Swapan Sharma said that During the checking, the police attempted to stop the suspicious car but Balraj Singh suddenly opened fire on the police.
The Commissioner of Police after the police retaliated Balraj Singh sustained bullet injuries and was later admitted to the hospital. He said that the second accused, Pawan Kumar, tried to escape the scene but was arrested shortly afterward. Mr Swapan Sharma said that Police had recovered the Pistols .32 bore along with 12 cartridges, one Pistol 9mm along with one cartridge and Hyundai i20 car from them.
The Commissioner of Police said that FIR 08 dated 15-01-2025 u/s 221,132,109 BNS, 25/27-54-59 Arms Act PS Bhargo Camp Jalandhar has been registered against both the accused. He said that three cases were already pending against Balraj whereas Pawan was already booked in two cases. Mr Swapan Sharma said that further investigation into the case is going on and details if any will be shared later.
