The opening ceremony of the 22nd edition of the commonwealth games is set to begin hours from now. The mega sporting event will span over 12 days. The sporting stars will be in the action from tomorrow after the opening ceremony scheduled later tonight. The Indian contingent is represented by a dynamic pack of 213 athletes including 103 women.
With India set to present its contention in over 16 sports out of 20 here is how India will kick-start its journey on Day 1:
All eyes will be on the Indian Women’s team led by Harmanpreet Kaur against the World Champions Australia in the group stage on the inaugural day. Besides, the cricket team, India’s female hockey team will start on a high on Friday, keeping aside all their lows from Tokyo last year. In the individual category, child prodigy, 14-year-old squash player Anahat Singh will also be in the action on the 1st day.
