Ahead of Jalandhar Municipal Corporation elections, one of the prominent Congress leaders and councillor Aruna Arora joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday. Aruna Arora was elected from Ward 27. Aruna Arora joined the AAP in the presence of the party's President Aman Arora, Deepak Bali, and Jalandhar West MLA Mohinder Bhagat.
She is a well-known figure in Jalandhar politics. Aruna was elected from Ward 27, representing the posh Model Town area. The Model Town area is considered a key constituency in the upcoming elections. Her decision to switch parties is considered a major boost for the Aam Admi Party.
Previously, Aruna Arora was chairperson of the Tehbazari department of the corporation and her husband Manoj Arora was district planning board chairman in the Congress government. Notably, on Monday, former Jalandhar Mayor & Congress leader Jagdish Raja and his wife Anita also joined AAP.
