Karnataka Congress leader DK Shivakumar has landed into trouble on Monday after the Central Bureau of Investigation carried out sudden raids at the premises associated with him. Reportedly, Shivakumar has been alleged for his involvement in a corruption case.
According to the sources, CBI raided 14 premises of state Congress chief and his brother and MP DK Suresh, including the former's residence at Doddalahalli, Kanakapura, and Sadashiva Nagar, in Bengaluru. So far, the CBI has been able to recover a total of Rs 50 lakh after the raids.
Notably, the CBI has registered a case against DK Shivakumar and others after they have been alleged of building disproportionate assets. To learn more about it, CBI launched search operations at multiple locations-- nine in Karnataka, four in Delhi, and one in Mumbai.
The CBI had already been permitted by the state government to carry out a CBI probe against the leader over the alleged corruption charges against him.
As soon as the news broke out, senior Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala slammed the Karnataka government and called the CBI a “puppet” of the BJP government in the state under BS Yediyurappa. Taking the matter on Twitter he wrote, "The insidious game of intimidation and machinations of Modi-Yeddyurappa duo being executed by a puppet CBI by raiding DK Shivakumar won’t deter us. CBI should be unearthing the layers of corruption in Yeddyurappa Govt. But, ‘Raid Raj’ is their only Machiavellian Move."

"2/2 Let Modi & Yeddyurappa Govts & BJP’s frontal organizations i.e CBI-ED-Income Tax know that Congress workers & leaders will not be cowed down nor bow down before such devious attempts. Our resolve to fight for people & expose BJP’s maladministration only becomes stronger, added Surjewala."
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also took to Twitter and slammed the BJP over the raids at DK Shivakumar's premises. He said, "BJP has always tried to indulge in vindictive politics and mislead public attention. The latest CBI raids on KPCC president DK Shivakumar's house is another attempt to derail our preparation for bypolls. I strongly condemn this".
