Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today held a meeting with Punjab Congress President and 'rebel' MLAs at his Siswan Resort.
As per the information acquired, Capt Amarinder Singh today invited the Punjab Congress President Sunil Jakhar and ‘rebel’ MLAs to his Siswan Resort for lunch diplomacy. The meeting was attended by Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa, MLAs Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, Pargat Singh and Sangat Singh Gilzia.
It is learnt that in the meeting, CM Capt Amarinder discussed the standoff between Cabinet Ministers and Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh, which initiated over the excise policy. The meeting is believed to end the rift as CM had an open-end discussion on the predicaments being faced by the party legislators and Cabinet Ministers due to Chief Secy.
Post lunch meeting, cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa along-with MLA Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Pargat Singh talked to the media and briefed the discussion based on the Chief Secy. Sukhjinder Randhawa informed CM that behaviour and attitude of Chief Secy was not tolerable.
The ongoing feud between some ministers and Chief Secretary Karan Avtar Singh over the past several days seems to be taking a new turn.
According to the official sources, some of the Captain's advisors had asked him to not to replace the chief secretary as it would disseminate the wrong and misleading image of the state representative. This decision would be considered a personal defeat for the CM Captain Amarinder.
In this regard, CM has now come into full action and wants to preserve the right image of the state and its representatives. The majority of Congress MLAs are still with the Captain as many Congress MLAs feel that only Captain can give the Congress a lead and can shape its future in Punjab.
