Actor turned politician Khushbhu Sundar on Monday has put an end to the month-long rumors to leave the Congress party. Khushbhu Sundar, who was serving as Congress spokesperson has submitted her resignation to party president Sonia Gandhi. She was part of Congress since 2014.

Notably, Khushbu has joined Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today in the presence of party president JP Nadda and other senior party leaders, sources said.

Khushbu, in her resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi, has acknowledged the opportunity given to her to serve the nation as the national spokesperson of the party.

"I, after a long thorough thought process over a period of time, have decided to end my association with the party," read Khushbu's resignation letter.

"A few elements seated at a higher level within the party, people who have no connectivity with the ground reality or public recognition are dictating terms and people like me who wanted to work for the party sincerely, are being pushed and suppressed," Khushbu Sundar said in the letter.

Meanwhile, Congress has accepted her resignation and has removed her from the party posting of National spokesperson and Primary Member of INC.

How it all started?

After BJP announced the new National Education Policy (NEP) in July, Khushbu Sundar was the one who backed the Centre's decision. Right from here, the rift between her and Congress was triggered and speculations on something dubious in party arose.

However, on Sunday, Khsubhu posted a cryptic tweet that read, "Many see a change in me. Well as you age, you evolve n grow, learn n unlearn, perceptions change you understand the difference between right n wrong. Change is inevitable (sic)"

Taking cognizance of her resignation, Congress party leader Karti  Chidambaram said, "A 180-degree turn is a tough manoeuvre to make! Good luck."
