Congress worker attempts to contest pet dog in Amritsar MC Polls

A Congress worker named Mehak Rajput decided to contest her pet dog Jimmy as an independent candidate from ward number 38 in upcoming Amritsar MC elections.

On 12th December, Thursday, a Congress worker named Mehak Rajput has decided to contest her pet dog named 'Jimmy' as an independent candidate from ward number 38. She had reached the SDM-1 office to file a nomination for her dog Jimmy.

Mehak Rajput is associated with the Congress party for the last 20 years. She said that this time the party nominated someone else instead of giving her a ticket from Ward-38. She got upset with this decision and decided to make her loyal pet a candidate.

She said that her pet dog isa symbol of loyalty. She shared this message on her official social media account and promoted her pet dog. She shared the post in order to make her message reach the public.

Speaking to the media, Mehak Rajput said that she had expected that she would get a ticket this time, but her expectation was turned into disappointment when the party nominated someone else.  Following this, she decided to contest her pet dog Jimmy in the election. If the administration rejects her dog's nomination, then she would herself contest as an independent candidate.

Mehak also said that she was disappointed with the Congress party because the party ignored her hard work and contested someone else in the election.

Mehak said that she knows that animals are not allowed to file nominations in the electoral process but she wants the administration to accept her dog's nomination. If this does not happen, herself will contest as an independent candidate in the elections.
