Since the past few weeks, India has been recording a high level of recoveries. As many as 76,737 recoveries were registered between Sunday and Monday morning. India has become the second worst-hit country by the Covid-19 in the world, recording 74,442 new infections and 903 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the Union health ministry’s data showed on Monday.
The country now has cases over 6.6 million. There are 6,623,815 cases of the coronavirus disease, including 934,427 active cases and 102,685 deaths. Since the past few weeks, India has been recording a high level of daily recoveries. With 76,737 recoveries being registered between Sunday and Monday morning. Now 5,586,703 people have been cured so far taking the national recovery rate to 84.34%.
The Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said Sunday said that the government plans to cover 20-25 crore people by July 2021 with an estimate to receive and utilise 40-50 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine. He added that the government is preparing a format for the states to submit by October-end their list of priority population groups that should receive the vaccine first and priority will be given to health workers involved in COVID management.
Schools in Delhi will remain closed till October 31 in view of rising COVID cases, though the Centre had permitted students of classes 9 to 12 to schools on a voluntary basis from September 21 to seek guidelines from their teachers.

# Punjab reported 857 new cases of COVID infections in a day on Sunday. The count has fallen less than 1,000-mark after two months whereas Chandigarh has reported 85 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday and two deaths, taking the total tally to 12,445. The number of active cases in the UT is 1,673.
# A total of 206 new Covid-19 cases, 124 recoveries & 3 deaths were reported today in Manipur. A total number of positive cases now at 11,855, including 2,576 active cases, 9,205 recoveries & 74 deaths till date. Recovery rate is 77.64 %, said Govt of Manipur.
# As per Tamil Nadu State Health Department, the state reported 5,489 new Covid-19 cases, 5,558 recoveries & 66 deaths today, taking total positive cases to 6,19,996, including 5,64,092 discharged cases, 9,784 deaths & 46,120 active cases.

# The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 7,99,82,394 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till yesterday on October 4 of which 9,89,860 were tested yesterday. As advised by the World Health Organization, India has exceeded the 140 COVID-19 tests per day for per million population. Comprehensive testing of suspected cases has reached nearly six times, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
# New Zealand to ease coronavirus restrictions in Auckland after seeing an improvement in the epidemiological situation, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced. Ardern said New Zealand "beat the virus again" and lockdown restriction will be eased this week as there have been no new cases in the city for 12 days.
# One in four COVID patients have admitted 48 hours before death Maharashtra.
# Bhopal Covid-19 tally crossed 26000 marks, toll at 597 while Jharkhand reported 933 new Covid-19 cases, 907 recoveries and 9 deaths today. The total cases in the state are 87,210 including 75,531 recoveries, 743 deaths and 10,936 active cases, said the State Health Department.

# Hotels, food courts, restaurants and bars in Maharashtra to resume their services today with 50% capacity from today. The state recorded 13,702 new infections on Sunday, pushing the tally to 1,443,409.
# Mexico's confirmed coronavirus cases rose to 761,665 on Sunday with a total reported death toll of 79,088, according to the health ministry. It reported 3,712 new cases and 208 deaths.
