India with 1.86 lakh fresh Covid cases has recorded the lowest daily rise in the past 44 days. The infection tally now stands at 2,75,55,457, along with 3,660 deaths, taking the country’s total fatalities to 3,18,895 since the beginning of the pandemic. The active caseload in the country has further dipped to 23,43,152 with active cases decreasing by 76,755 in the last 24 hours, said the Union Health Ministry.
The total number of recoveries in the last 24 hours stands at 2,59,459, which is for the fifteenth consecutive day that the recoveries have outnumbered the daily new cases. A total of 2,48,93,410 patients have recovered in the country so far.
The recovery rate has surged to 90.34%.
A total of 33,90,39,861 samples tested up to May 27. Of these, 20,70,508 samples were tested on Thursday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The health ministry on Thursday informed that the second wave of the Coronavirus in India is now on the "downswing," highlighting that the current number of active cases is still "very high". It has advised the states and Union territories (UTs) to not show negligence.
Meanwhile, India may soon have flour covid vaccines, Niti Aayog member V.K Paul said as the centre is in talks with US pharma giant Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna
"We are engaged with Pfizer because they have indicated availability of ... certain volume of vaccines, in the coming months, possibly starting in July," V K Paul said in a press briefing.

According to the health ministry, as many as 205,451,902 doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered in the country.
