As the Covid-19 situation becomes worrisome in India, PM Narendra Modi has decided to chair a meeting with the Chief Ministers of all states and UTs. Notably, the meeting to review the situation will be conducted via video conference on April 8 (Thursday) at 6:30 pm.
Since the beginning of last month, the Covid-19 cases began to see an upsurge in the nation and now over the weekend, India has surpassed the USA in recording the daily highest number of infection cases. After the US and Brazil, India is now the biggest Covid-19 hotspot in the world.
Owing to the Covid grim, several high-level meetings have taken place over the last week. On Tuesday, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan will take stock of the situation in a meeting with all state CMs and UTs.

According to the Union Health Ministry, 11 states/UTs have been categorized as 'states of grave concern' as the majority of increasing cases and deaths are being witnessed here. These states are Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhatisgarh, Chandigarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, and Haryana. However, the situation in Maharashtra is alarming due to which the government is considering is impose a complete lockdown again.
Pertinently, the states have been advised to enforce the preventive measures diligently so that threat of the disease could be contained.
