More than 1,000 employees of the banking sector in India have been killed by the pandemic COVID, and many more are infected, claims All India Bank Officers’ Association.

Even as most states of the nation are in complete or partial lockdown banks remain open. An essential service, banks are permitted to have as much as 50% of their workforce in office to see that banking services for the customers are not disrupted.
The number of deaths due to COVID are claimed to be 1,200 by All India Bank Employees Association. This organisation claims that some banks are not forthcoming in sharing details of those who died due to COVID and the compensation policies for the families of the deceased.
