Keeping in view the rising number of cases in the district as well as the state, the city residents would be forced to once again give a miss to their favourite religious activities.
On May 1 and 2, Nakodar’s famous Dera Baba Murad Shah mela was scheduled to take place, however, due to rising covid cases and ban on gatherings, devotees will not be allowed to attend the fair physically, instead the trust members will organise a live telecast through facebook and youtube.
This is the second time the famous mela will be telecasted online. The fair is being organised every year in the memory of Baba Laddi Shah ji in May and then in September again. The trust members have appealed to the devotees to watch the proceedings online and follow the tradition of covering their head very much like how they visit the shrine.
Meanwhile, the news has not gone down well with the devotees as they have been waiting so eagerly to attend the festivities. “I am disappointed that for many weeks now I am unable to go to pay my obeisance. But the situation is quite dangerous and it is not good for people to gather in large number”, said a devotee from Jalandhar.
He said many people from Jalandhar and nearby areas especially go for the mela. However, this time again we had to contend ourselves by watching the rituals being performed online.
