Covid-19: TN govt warns people against inhaling steam

Tamil Nadu Health Minister MA Subramanian said that hundreds of thousands of people are inhaling steam as a protective measure against coronavirus infection, further, he added that inhaling steam improperly could damage the lungs.

There are several messages on social media that say that inhaling steam is effective and would help prevent the spread of the infection. But Subramanian said that if people are having Covid symptoms they must consult a doctor rather than trying home remedies on their own.

The statement from the Health Minister Office said that the treatment given to the patients at Siddha Covid Care Centres is done under special medical supervision. 

On Monday, over 300 people succumb to Covid-19 on the second consecutive day, which took Tamil Nadu's death toll at 17,670, which is the fourth-highest in the country. On Sunday, the daily infection count reduced by nearly 6% that is from 6640 on Saturday to 6247 on Sunday. 

On Monday, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) donated Rs 1 Crore to CM’s Public Relief Fund as financial aid to support the state in the battle against coronavirus.
