In a major crackdown against the narco-terrorism in Punjab, the Border Security Force troops from January 2021 to till date have seized 158.638 kgs of heroin from different Punjab Borders, while the number of Indian border crosser and Pakistan National apprehended are three and eleven, respectively.
Besides, the Pakistan intruders killed so far during such operations are two and different types of weapons and magazine seized were six and eight, respectively.
Also, ammunition of various calibres seized was 146, while two Pakistan Mobile phones were recovered.
Meanwhile, continuing their crackdown against smugglers and peddlers, the vigilant troops of Border Security Force on Saturday again foiled the attempt of anti-international elements to push consignment of contraband items into India.
BSF seized about 500gms of heroin during a search operation on the bank of River Ravi in Gurdaspur Sector. The smugglers reportedly to dodge the soldiers had filled the drug in a cold drink bottle found tied with a bamboo stick in a field. The seizure was made by the 73 Battalion BSF force.
In another such incident, Border Security Force troops seized four packets weighing approx 2,430 kgs of heroin from Abohar. This seizure was made by the 124 Battalion BSF force.
In addition, since last year, the border areas of Punjab are on high alert because the Punjab has a 543 Km border with Pakistan and drones are usually seen inside Indian territory.
In February 2021, drones were seen at BSF's Pahadipur post which falls near Bamiyal, Chontra post which falls in Dinanagar area and Sadavali post that falls in Dera Baba area.
Even the Chief Minister Punjab Capt Amarinder Singh had earlier warned and said the threat from Pakistan could not be undermined… We have to work to resolve this issue before things go out of hand, he said, adding that he knew how many drones, arms and ammunition were being smuggled into the state from across the border.
