In its commitment of Punjab government to wipe out drug menace, Kapurthala police led by SSP Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh on Saturday launched an operation '2s Siege and Search' Operation in the area of police station Sultanpur Lodhi.
Special teams carried out raids on drug smugglers by laying siege to the infamous village Lattianwala .
In a press release, SSP said that different police teams were formed under the supervision of SP detective and Dy SP Sarwan Singh Bal including three SHO’s and 160 police staff, today sieged the village Lattianwal and started the search operation in the village.
During search, different police teams apprehended six big fishes or smugglers including two proclaimed offenders wanted in 5 kg heroin recovery case and seized heavy amount of narcotics and illicit liquor from their possession, he added .
The accused smugglers have been identified as Rajvir Singh alias Raju, Sukhjivan Singh, Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, Amarjit Singh, Kulbir Singh alias sohan all residents of village lattianwal and Harpal Singh alias Pala resident of village Toti in Sultanpur lodhi.
SSP further elaborated that arrested smugglers Rajvir Singh alias Raju and Sukhjivan Singh both were declared proclaimed offender in case fir no 126 dated 01.08.2019 under section 21/29 of NDPS Act and were absconding for the last few years . Many cases were already registered against them under narcotics act, he added.
He said that during this operation police seized 260 grams heroin from accused Rajvir Singh alias Raju and 265 grams heroin form Sukhjivan Singh, 450 intoxicant pills form Lakhwinder singh alias lakha, 510 intoxicant pills from Amarjit Singh, 270 grams of Narcotics powder and one Scorpio car from accused Harpal Singh alias Pala and 150Kg of illicit liquor was also seized form accused Kulvir Singh alias Sohan.
He informed that six different cases have been registered against these Narcotics smugglers under the relevant sections of NDPS Act and Excise Act in police station Sultanpur Lodhi.

SSP told that the arrested smuggler will be produced before the magistrate by the Police and their police remand will be sought to further investigate there backward and forward linkage so that further arrest can be made of those who are associated with these smugglers.
SSP reiterated that zero tolerance would be adopted against drug smugglers and such more '2s' operations would be started in coming days to eliminate the drug menace.
