Farmers protesting against the three contentious farm laws run amok yesterday when they tried to dismantle police barricades in Palwal to enter Delhi. As per a report published in The Indian Express, FIRs have been filed against 2,000 people over the incident where the police and farmers clashed.
Sections invoked according to the police are Section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), Section 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 307 (attempt to murder), and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) as well as Section 8 of the National Highways Act as per a report of The Indian Express.
A case has been registered after the complaint was filed by head constable at Gadpuri Police Station. The Investigation Officer, Sub-Inspector Hanish Khan said that the FIR has been filed against over 2,000 people that used over 300 tractors who became violent with police officers and block the National Highway near Softa village.
“We are still investigating the matter. We are yet to identify the accused or make any arrests,” the investigation officer added.
Section 144 has been imposed in Faridabad because the
farmers tried to enter Faridabad atop their tractors. District Magistrate,
Yashpal Yadav has ordered that gathering of more than 5 people with any kind of
sword or ammunition is prohibited.
