In a massive development, the upcoming 50-overs cricket world schedule was announced on Tuesday with Team India kicking off their campaign for the prestigious title on October 8 against Australia in Chennai. However, what raised everyone's eyebrows is the schedule of India vs Pakistan. Team India will take on Pakistan on October 15, Sunday at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad. Interestingly, Pakistan was not keen on playing in Ahmedabad and wanted a change in venue. However, it is now official that India vs Pakistan World Cup 2023 match will be held on October 15, 2023. Their last encounter in the 2019 World Cup was a high-scoring affair with India achieving a huge victory in Manchester.
As per the official release issued by the ICC, a total of 10 teams will participate in the showcase event, the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The final two spots will be determined at the end of the Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe, which concludes on July 9. Each team plays the other nine in a round-robin format with the top four qualifying for the knockout stage and semi-finals.
