Disney Plus Hotstar India on Friday announced the comeback of its courtroom drama Criminal Justice with its 4th Season. Therefore, fans who were eagerly waiting for the confirmation of Criminal Justice 4, start rejoicing as Disney Plus Hotstar Head of Content Gaurav Banerjee has confirmed the development. Notably, it is sensed that the makers do not resurrect Criminal Justice Season 4 as its original show concluded with only two seasons.
For the unversed, Disney Plus Hotstar's Criminal Justice was originally based on the 2008 BBC series of the same name. Peter Moffat’s British show went on for two seasons, thereafter, it was not renewed. However, in India, the Hindi version of the courtroom drama became a massive hit. Therefore, it can be said Criminal Justice Season 4 is in the works and the beloved actor Pankaj Tripathi is returning in the character of Advocate Madhav Mishra.
Gaurav Banerjee was quoted saying, "This is a pretty special moment because it marks five years of the Hotstar Specials journey, which launched in 2019...Criminal Justice was our first big fiction series, and it is fantastic to see the franchise become stronger and continue to get critical acclaim and consumer love."
Banerjee further confirmed that Pankaj Tripathi will return as lawyer Madhav Mishra in a new story. However, he did not reveal more about the starcast. Banerjee stated that a 'large part' of the shoot is completed and that 'lots of the original characters will come back.' Furthermore, it will feature 'some powerhouse casting who have been part of the world before.'
Criminal Justice Season 4 will evolve the character of Madhav Mishra, who is called the 'anchor' of the show. "Everyone wants to root for him, and you can always trust him to finally do the right thing,” Banerjee added.
Criminal Justice Season 4 will be directed by Rohan Sippy along with Applause making the show in association with BBC Studios, which owns the rights to the scripted format.
