Sandeep told the media that, “We reached the Junagarh border area of Bijapur on Saturday morning, and we walked all Friday night to reach the desire location. We noticed some movement of Naxalites and suddenly they started firing at us. We replied them appropriately and our boys showed tremendous bravery while responding to them. Naxalites suddenly attacked us but we were successful in breaking the circle and we moved forward.”
While talking to the media Sandeep was occasionally smiling, during this, someone clicked his photograph and posted it on social media, which went viral.
The Naxalites open firing and bombed bombs on Sandeep and his fellow soldiers, Sandeep caught bombs while saving his comrades. Because of this, he got injured and on Sunday he was admitted to a private hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Home Minister Amit Shah come to meet brave soldier Sandeep in Ramakrishna Care Hospital in Raipur. When Amit Shah arrived Sandeep was in the bed and after noticing Home Minister he woke up with a smile and greeted him. Amit Shah showed confidence and told him he will get well super soon, rest well.

During interaction with the media, Sandeep shared important information related to the Naxalites movement in Bijapur. He said that, “People from the village were continuously in contact with Naxalites and were informing them about every movement of the soldiers. Because of this update, Naxalites were able to take their position on the top of hills to attack Indian soldiers.” Sandeep further told about how bravely they fought against them and break the circle. Due to this act of bravery, the soldiers managed to recover a dead body of a female Naxalite. He added they planned for a big encounter but the soldiers managed to thwart them. Soldiers were a bit lost and surprised by the sudden attack but few of the Naxalites were killed.
