In a bizarre development, a fake Facebook profile of Jalandhar's Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma recently came to the fore. Cyber fraudsters created Jalandhar CP Swapan Sharma's fake Facebook ID and even sent multiple messages using his name.
Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma has clarified that the Facebook profile is totally fake. Furthermore, legal action is being taken in this regard. It is pertinent to mention here that it is not the first time cyber fraudsters have created Swapan Sharma's fake social media account. A fake Facebook ID of Swapan Sharma was created by cyber thugs, through which messages were sent by the thugs to many people of Ludhiana.
For the unversed, Swapan Sharma is a 2009 batch IPS Officer. Before serving as Jalandhar Police Commissioner, he was posted as DIG in Jalandhar. He has also served as SSP in Jalandhar's rural area. Swapan Sharma did engineering at Giani Zail Singh College, Bathinda. After which he cleared the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Services exam in 2008. His first appointment was as Block Development Officer in Chaupal, Shimla.
After this, he passed the UPSC exam in 2009. After training, he was allotted Punjab cadre. IPS Swapan Sharma has served as SSP in Fazilka, Bathinda, Ropar, Sangrur, Jalandhar, and Amritsar rural areas.
