The incident took place on Wednesday evening. Two people, including the girl's brother, have been arrested and three others apprehended, said police. A case has been registered under section 302 (murder) and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code based on a statement of the deceased's uncle.
On the evening of the incident, the victim was befooled and was called to Nanda Road, on reaching the spot he was first physically assaulted by a group of 4-5 men including the girl's brother. A few moments of the incident were caught on CCTV camera. The victim sustained certain injuries and later was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
"The deceased did not have any visible injury. A post-mortem examination was conducted, and the doctor opined that rupturing of the spleen led to his death," said Vijayanta Arya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest).
Going by the statement of the victim's uncle, his nephew and girl were known to each other for over two years now. They resided in the same locality but the girl's parents and especially her brothers did not like my nephew and were against this friendship.
"On Wednesday, around 7 pm, I got a call from my friend who informed us that four-five people were beating up my nephew. When I reached the place, I found that my nephew was being beaten up brutally by the girl's brothers and their associates. They slapped, punched and kicked him," he mentioned in his complaint.

Not only this but the victim's uncle has also alleged that the accused had earlier threatened his nephew. The accused once told his uncle that his nephew was on talking terms with his sister and if he continued to do so he will kill him, the victim's uncle added in the complaint.
The police said the case was under investigation and personnel have been deployed in the locality to avoid any tension between the families.
However, Rahul's mother claimed that the police initially was unwilling to register a case as his son did not look brutally assaulted.
Rahul's uncle also said that the family did not know the men who assaulted the boy.
"One boy from the crowd was seen coming forward and saying that he is the one who assaulted him because he saw him speak to his sister," he said.
