A notice has been issued to the Central Government regarding the petition filed by singer Daler Mehndi in the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The Punjabi singer had earlier filed a petition in the court for the renewal of his passport. The hearing regarding this case has been fixed for 2nd February 2023.
Reportedly, Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi filed an application in Punjab Haryana High Court for renewal of his parasport which is going to expire on 16th March 2023. Recently, the Central Government has been issued with a notice to discuss the matter about the petition filed. Daler Mehndi demanded that the Regional Passport Officer should be requested for the renewal of his passport. He stated that he had already submitted his application to the Regional Passport Office and it is pending for the time being.
A case of human trafficking was registered against Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi in the year 2003. He along with his brother Shemsher Singh was accused of illegally sending people abroad and extorting huge money from them. In the year 2018, Patiala Court sentenced him to 2 years imprisonment. The singer further appealed for cancellation of his punishment which was rejected by the High Court. Post this, the singer was arrested and lodged into Patiala Jail.
