This week has been good news for the people of Punjab. There will be 3 consecutive holidays in the coming days, which will bring relief to all, from children to government officials. The Punjab government has announced a state holiday on April 14 (Monday) on the birth anniversary of constitution maker Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. This holiday has been announced under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.
Three-day holidays on consecutive days:
- Saturday (April 12): Saturday holiday
- Sunday (April 13): Baisakhi festival and Saturday holiday
- Monday (April 14): Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti
Public holiday
All schools, banks, colleges, government offices, boards, and corporations will be closed during this time. The Punjab government has also sent an official letter in this regard, copies of which have been forwarded to all chief secretaries and department heads.
Special chance for children and families
On one hand, government employees will have a three-day-long holiday, and children will also be able to celebrate Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti with their families since they will be granted a holiday from school.
