Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh today directed officials to speed up the pace of the ongoing project of Adampur Civil Airport Terminal in a time-bound and result-oriented manner so that people of this reason can get ultra-modern aviation facilities at this airport.
In his visit to the airport terminal, the DC took up the matter of pending working permission with competent air force authority so that construction of terminal link texi track could be initiated at the earliest. He said that the work has already been awarded at the cost of Rs. 4.80 crore which can only be started after permission from air force authority. Accompanied by Assistant Director Adampur Airport Kamaljit Kaur, the DC said that the construction of Adampur civil Airport was in the last leg at an outlay of Rs. 125 crore adding the remaining works would be completed within stipulated time-frame. The deputy commissioner further reviewed the status of widening of airport approach road and asked the Land Acquisition Collector Adampur to speed up the land acquisition procedure in village Damunda and Kandola. The approach road would be widened by four-laning at the cost of Rs. 41.40 crore to provide passengers with smooth access to Adampur Airport.
Meanwhile, he took a round at the construction site and issued on-the-spot directions to officials concerned to finish all the pending work at the earliest. The DC asked the officials of the drainage department to connect airports’ drainage system to the main line as per requirements. He categorically said that any inordinate delay in this project would be highly unwarranted as this civil airport would not only benefit people of Jalandhar but also the entire Doaba region.
