In a horrific development, a Bolero pickup and a canter truck collided in Firozpur, Punjab on Friday. In the horrific accident, 9 people died whereas, 11 people were injured, out of which 5 are in critical condition. This accident happened on Friday morning near the village Mohan Ke Utaad on Firozpur-Fazilka road.
As per the information received, at the time of the accident, more than 25 people were in the pickup. The injured people have been taken to the hospital by the police with the help of passersby, where they are undergoing treatment. According to the police, this accident seems to have happened due to fog. Its investigation is going on. Initial investigation further reveals that the pickup collided with the canter after going out of control.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, the teams of the Road Safety Force (SSF) reached the spot. All the injured have been taken to the hospital. After this, the national highway was cleared because there was a huge jam behind.
The Police officials revealed that there were labourers in the Bolero pickup. They were going from Firozpur to the rural area. During this, the pickup went out of control, due to which it collided with the canter coming from behind. More than 8 people were declared dead as soon as they were taken to the hospital. At the same time, some died during treatment.
How did the accident happen?
As per reports, people present on the spot have said that all the people who were present in the Bolero pickup used to go to work as waiters at weddings. About 10 youths of village Sufewala were on the said pickup today for the work of waiters.
On the orders of the Deputy Commissioner, Tehsildar Guru Har Sahai is present at the scene to assist the victims. The deceased have been kept at Jalalabad Hospital. Out of the 11 injured patients, 10 have been referred to Medical College Faridkot for treatment. One patient is undergoing treatment in Jalalabad. The district administration will ensure full medical treatment for the injured stated Deputy Commissioner, Firozpur.
