The Bombay High Court (HC) has ordered the family court to decide on the divorce petition of cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife Dhanashree Verma tomorrow. Justice Madhav Jamdar said that Chahal will not be available from March 21 as he has to participate in the IPL 2025.
According to the report, Chahal will give his wife an alimony of around Rs 5 crore. Bar and Bench reported that Chahal has agreed to pay Rs 4.75 crore to his wife Dhanashree Verma. The report further suggest that out of Rs 4.75 crore, Yuzie Chahal has already been paid to the choreographer Rs 2.37 crore. The Bombay High Court has approved Chahal and Dhanashree's plea to waive the 6-month cooling-off period after their divorce petition. Earlier, multiple reports suggested that Dhanashree was seeking Rs 60 crore in alimony but her family rejected the claims.
Chahal and Dhanashree got married in December 2020.
Recently, it was reported that both were living separately for the last 18 months. Rumors of divorce between Chahal and his wife Dhanashree were doing the rounds on social media for a long time.
However, no official statement from Chahal and Dhanashree has come out yet. The Bombay High Court’s ruling comes after the Family Court in Bandra had initially denied Chahal and Verma's request to waive the statutory cooling period under the Hindu Marriage Act. Justice Madhav Jamdar’s bench intervened and ruled in favor of the couple, citing their prolonged separation and compliance with most consent terms.
