On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate alleged before a Delhi Court that Deepak Talwar has links with fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya. Deepak Talwar was earlier booked in a case of surrender of lucrative national and international air routes by Air India to foreign and domestic private airlines in lieu of illegal gratification.
Counsel for the Directorate submitted before Special Judge Santosh Sanehi Mann that investigation had revealed Mr. Talwar links with Mr. Mallya when they were evading arrest and probe. The Directorate has also submitted to the court, the print outs of the emails sent by Mallya to Talwar in 2018.
The agency levelled this allegation while seeking extension of police remand of Mr. Talwar which the court extended till February 12. Counsel for the agency has also submitted that the accused would also be confronted with his son Aditya Talwar who had been summoned for investigation on February 11.
The allegations against the senior Mr. Talwar and other accused persons in the case lodged by CBI were that officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, National Aviation Company of India Limited and Air India had forced Air India to surrender profit-making routes and timings to foreign and domestic private airlines.
