Another case of fraudulent scam in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) beneficiary has emerged from Madhya Pradesh where prominent Bollywood actresses are working as daily-wage laborers in the fields.
Reportedly, Jhirnya district Piparkheda Naka Panchayat's sarpanch, secretary, and assistant had used pictures of Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez to create fake job cards under the MGNREGA scheme. Notably, these job cards were being used by the accused to withdraw money from accounts.
The Madhya Pradesh police has foiled this scam and noticed that accused Monu Dubey had used the picture of Deepika Padukone on his job card and had withdrawn a sum of Rs 30,000 in his name, though he was not going to work. Monu was sure that nobody could identify him thus he continued to do so for months.
Another accused identified as Sonu had put a picture of Jacqueline Fernandez on the job card to withdraw some money.
However, the matter came to light when some of the actual beneficiaries complained that they were unable to receive the amount capped by the government. During the investigation, the police got its hands-on a few job cards that were fake and had used the pictures of Bollywood actresses.

On the flip side, it has been alleged by the natives of Jhirnya district that they did not get any work under the MGNREGA scheme and the sarpanch, secretary, employment assistant are involved in corruption and other fraudulent activities.
The District Panchayat CEO Gaurav Benal has ordered an inquiry in the matter to check how the fake job cards were created and how the amounts were withdrawn from various accounts.
