In 2019, Deepika had replaced Amir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao and became the chairperson of MAMI.
Deepika’s statement over her resignation
The actress posted a note on social media, stating her time as the chairperson as an enriching experience. She wrote, “Being on the board of MAMI and serving as chairperson has
been a deeply enriching experience. As an artist, it was invigorating to bring together cinema and talent from all over the world to Mumbai, my second home.”
The actress declared her workload to be the reason for her resignation. “I have come to realize however that my current slate of work, I will be unable to give MAMI the undivided focus and attention it requires. I depart knowing that MAMI is in the best hands possible and that my bond and connection with the academy is one that will last a lifetime” she further added.
Deepika's Upcoming projects
The Chhapak star Deepika Padukone is to be seen in the upcoming film ‘83’ featuring Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev. The film story is based on the 1983 Cricket World Cup and Deepika will be playing the role of Kapil Dev’s wife. If the situation of corona improves in the nation, then the film is anticipated to release on June 4.
Apart from ’83’, Deepika is ready for the shooting of Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan’. The film will be featuring Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham along with Deepika.
According to reports, Deepika will also be playing an important role in Ranveer Singh starrer film ‘Circus’ which is directed by Rohit Shetty.
