A government panel for coronavirus has recommended that the recovered Covid patients should wait for three to nine months to get their vaccine shots. This recommendation is proposed by the National Technical Advisory Group (NTAGI), has been sent to the Health Ministry for approval.
A senior government official from the panel has said, “We have recommended a vaccine ‘sparing strategy’ which includes a longer waiting period for the first dose for those who have tested Covid-19 positive.”
Official added, “The longer time increases the antibodies response and hence it has been recommended that people who have been infected can get their vaccination done between three to nine months after recovery.”
The government panel has also proposed that pregnant and lactating women should also be eligible for vaccination in India.
