Death toll rises to 17 in massive fire at Delhi hotel

New Delhi: Update: The death toll in the massive fire at Hotel Arpit Palace, Karol Bagh, Delhi rises to 17.

On Tuesday morning, around 11 people died and three people have been injured after a fire broke out at a hotel in Central Delhi's Karol Bagh area. The senior fire officials have informed that victims also include a child and a woman.

According to fire department, a call was received at 0435 hours regarding a fire at Arpit Palace hotel, soon after which 20 fire tenders were pushed into service.The blaze was put to a stop at around 0830 hours while the rescue operation by the police was still underway.

It s a three story building which is still under cooldown and is being searched. As per locals, massive flames were seen on top of the building while some people were seen jumping out from their windows to save their lives.

However, the cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
