The Delhi government has announced a public holiday on 12th February 2025 on the occasion of Shri Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has declared this day as a public holiday, changing it from a restricted holiday earlier.
On 12th February, there will be a holiday in all government offices, autonomous bodies, and public undertakings of the Delhi government. The LG has also issued a notification in this regard.
According to the order issued by VK Saxena, all Delhi government offices will remain closed on 12th February. In addition, offices of independent bodies and public sector undertakings will also remain closed.
Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated with great pomp every year. Shri Guru Ravidas was a great saint, poet and social reformer and his thoughts inspire society even today.
Every year on the day of Magh Purnima, the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidas Ji is celebrated with reverence and devotion. On this day, his followers participate in special worship and spiritual rituals by bathing in holy rivers. A large number of people in Delhi worship Shri Guru Ravidas Ji and attend grand events on this day.
Additionally, regarding this, a procession will also be taken out in Jalandhar on the 11th February. On this special occasion, the district administration has ordered to keep meat and liquor shops closed on 11th and 12th February.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal said that as the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji on 12th February and the procession being taken out by various religious organizations on 11th February in this regard, keeping in mind the religious sentiments of the people and in view of the law and order, using the powers conferred under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code, 2023, the sale of meat and liquor has been banned on 11th and 12th February 2025.
The results of Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 were declared recently, in which BJP has registered a victory. BJP won 48 out of 70 assembly seats, while Aam Aadmi Party got 22 seats. Congress could not win any seat this time too.
