The Bharatmala Pariyojnas Delhi-Jammu-Katra Expressway and Ring Road project is progressing quickly. With a budget of ₹35000 crore, toll plaza construction along the expressway is anticipated to start within the next 18 months. After the plazas are open for business, the toll rates will be decided.
This large-scale infrastructure project is expected to reduce travel times significantly and improve connectivity between Jammu, Punjab, and Delhi. Traveling from Delhi to Katra currently takes eleven to twelve hours. After the expressway is completed, this time will be cut to about 7 to 8 hours, saving about 4 hours of travel time.
Significant travel time reductions are also expected in other directions. It'll be done in a matter of minutes. Traveling from Ambala to Jalandhar used to take 3 hours and 15 minutes, but now it takes 5 hours. In a similar vein, getting from Patiala to Jalandhar will take roughly three hours instead of five. The current eight to nine hours needed to travel from Delhi to Amritsar will be replaced by just five to six hours.
The new expressway promises to alleviate travel time constraints, benefit commuters, and boost regional connectivity. The construction is expected to bring significant improvements to transportation efficiency in the region.
