Panic erupted in Gujarat's Ahmedabad after at least 6 schools received bomb threat mail from an anonymous user on Monday. Ahmedabad bomb threat came days after more than 100 schools in New Delhi received similar kinds of messages via mail. As soon as Ahmedabad school bomb threats were reported to the Police, the authorities came into action starting a major search operation. Nothing suspicious was found on the premises of the schools. However, the Police have been put on alert.
The threat E-mails were reportedly sent from a Russian domain 'mail.ru. Interestingly, it is the same source of the bomb threat mails received by over 100+ schools in Delhi-NCR last week. Talking about the Delhi bomb threat case, investigation agencies revealed that the mail sent to schools in Delhi-NCR originated from a server located in Russia. The Delhi Police’s anti-terror unit special cell had traced the domain of emails to Russia and it was suspected to have been formed with the help of the dark web. This encrypted online content allows individuals to hide their identity and location from others.
According to a police officer quoted by a newswire, the email ID from which the threat was sent is ‘sawariim@mail.ru’. Sawarim is an Arabic word extensively used by the terror outfit Islamic State (IS) in their propaganda videos over the past several years.
