The Delhi police have permitted protesting farmers to carry their proposed tractor march on January 26 when India will celebrate its Republic Day. The farmer's tractor march will begin when the R-Day parade at the Rajpath concludes and will cover a distance of more than 100 kilometres before culminating around 6 pm.

Barricades at Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders will be removed so that farmers can enter the national capital, said the police.

Tractor parade will be carried peacefully and the official Republic Day will not be affected, assured farmers leaders.

Dependra Pathak, Special CP, Intelligence (Delhi Police) during a media briefing on Sunday said, "We have finally decided, we have agreed that we will have tractor rally also on that day maintaining the sanctity and security arrangements of the Republic Day celebrations.”

Meanwhile, Mr Pathak also informed that over 300 Twitter handles are being operated from Pakistan from January 13 to 18 to disturb farmers’ proposed tractor rally.

"Through intelligence and various other agencies, we have continuously been getting inputs regarding the threat to create disturbance in the tractor rally. 308 Twitter handles have been generated from Pakistan to create confusion," he said.

"We trust the farmers that they'll not camp in the capital and will return to their respective borders," police officials added.

The distance allowed for the rally is 63, 62, 56 km "in circulation" around their respective borders.

The Delhi police said that strict security will be provided for the tractor march, thus those who will be deployed for the Republic Day parade will have to be available for further duty on short notice. “Due to the rally of farmers, they have to go to various spots after the Republic Day Parade, the police said. Policemen who will be posted on the Republic Day parade should be ready for further deployment on short notice," the police added.

After two rounds of meetings between the farmers union and the police, the green signal to carry the tractor rally was permitted today as respect to farmers demand.
