The answer is yes. As per the makers, Netflix's The Deliverance is inspired by the true haunting story of Latoya Ammons and her family. The Deliverance movie revolves around Ebony Jackson which is based on the real-life character of Latoya Ammons. Ebony Jackson is an alcoholic mother of Andre, Nate, and Shante. She moves to a new home so that child services cannot find her and let her live with her children peacefully. 

Who is real-life Ebony Jackson?

As mentioned above, Ebony Jackson's character is based on real-life Latoya Ammons. As per People's Magazine, in November 2011, Latoya Ammons along with her children and mother moved into a rental home in Gary, Indiana. Soon after that, strange and frightening things began to occur — Latoya’s mother, Rosa Campbell, saw the shadow of a man pacing their living room and Latoya witnessed her then-12-year-old daughter levitating above a bed.

The family sought religious counsel and advice from clairvoyants who claimed that more than 200 demons or spirits controlled the Carolina Street home. Later, Latoya reported that demonic forces had possessed her and her three children.

Talking more about The Deliverance real story, Latoya Ammons moved into the Gary, Ind., home in November 2011 with her three children. The real name of Latoya Ammons' children are- (daughter) Airion, 12, son Andrew, 9, and son Armani, 7. 

What The Deliverance showcased in the movie?

Netflix's horror movie The Deliverance showcased that Latoya's Indiana home was indeed haunted by one powerful demon. Through Latoya Ammons' youngest son, the demon intended to possess all members of the family and ultimately kill them. However, with the help of a priestess, Ebony was able to save her family. Later, she also got back the custody of her children and then shifted to Philly, leaving the haunted house in Indiana.
