Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has reacted to ex-CM Captain Amarinder Singhs threats of making the list of tainted Congress MLAs public. In his latest tweets, Randhawa said it was Captain Amarinder’s “inefficiency and incompetency” that he did not act on those who were involved in sand mining.
Calling Capt the "self-proclaimed saviour of Punjab" the deputy CM said that former Congress leader "ignored the interests of state for his lust of power."
“Wasn’t it your inefficiency and incompetency that as CM you didn’t act against those involved in sand mining or the self proclaimed saviour of Punjab ignored the interests
of state for his lust of power," read a tweet by Mr Randhwa.
Further taking a dig on Amarinder Singh, the party top brass said, "When you assumed the reins of power in 2017, you promised doing away with the PPAs. Alas! You didn't live up
to your commitments. You owe an explanation to the people of Punjab."
"The present government had the courage to annul the PPAs. Proof enough of our intentions and this is not a Lollypop given by our Government," said Randhawa showing confidence
in the Channi government.
Sukhjinder Randhawa’s comments came two days after Captain Amarinder tendered his formal resignation from the party and berated party president Sonia Gandhi and her children- Rahul
Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in a seven page long letter, which he also posted on Twitter.
In his long letter, the former Punjab CM had said, “As far as the issue of illegal sand mining was concerned the offenders, unfortunately, were the substantive bulk of Congress MLAs
and Ministers, including an overwhelming number in the current government.”
He went on to say that, “one of my enduring regrets would remain as to why I did not take some of them to task. The thought that it would embarrass the party held me back.”
In what could be called a threat to Congress, Captain Amarinder said that he intends to make “the list of these people public.”
Captain Amarinder quit Congress on November 2 and announced the name of his new party.
‘Punjab Lok Congress’ is the name of the new party. The registration is pending approval with the @ECISVEEP. The party symbol will be approved later,” read the tweet.
The deputy CM has been a critic of Capt Amarinder for a long time. The Congress leader was engaged in a verbal spat with former CM recently over the latter’s friendship with Pakistani journalist Aroosa Alam. Randhawa had demanded a probe into Alam’s link with ISI, which led to an ugly fight between the top Punjab politicians.
