The US immigration authorities have denied India's contention against the arrest and prosecution of the Indian detainees who were enrolled in a fake university which was being run by some undercover agents stating that all 129 detainees were 'aware of their crimes'.
The Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy had claimed that the students 'may have been duped' and were unwitting victims of 'entrapment'.
"Government of India continues to attach high priority to the well-being of the detained students and will remain constantly engaged with the US authorities and other stakeholders to address the issue," the ministry said.
