Ed and Lorraine Warren have been recognized and honored for their achievements in anomalies research, in the US for engaging in occultism and large-scale collecting of the supernatural.
Their chronicles are the inspiration for The Conjuring Cinematic universe, with the Annabelle doll, the chaotic Amityville residence, and the 2021 film "The Devil Made Me Do It".
The case of the Glatzels

Arne Johnson reportedly chased David away and pleaded with the devil saying, "take me instead." Lorraine Warren reported on efforts to counsel and warn Arne. As a result, Johnson was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to five years, half of the 10-20 years originally requested.
Controversial books and legal arguments:
In 1983, "The Haunting in Connecticut" was published, sparking fierce debate, acrimony and legal battles among readers. Lorraine Warren’s collaboration with author Gerald Brittle sparked a lively discussion about the book. But when the book was republished in 2006, legal wrangles ensued, prompting Carl Glatzel to sue Brittle and Lorraine Warren. The case was further eventually dismissed.
The Warrens' Occult Museum:
Throughout their careers, the Warrens collected numerous 'haunted' and 'cursed' objects, displaying them in their Occult Museum. Visitors were often encouraged to bless themselves with holy water before entering. However, the museum is now permanently closed.
Allegations and the Legacy of Ed and Lorraine Warren:
In 2013, Judith Penney claimed that she had a relationship with Ed Warren in the 1960s when she was underage and lived with him as his lover for four decades with Lorraine's knowledge. Ed Warren passed away in 2006 at the age of 79, while Lorraine Warren died in 2019 at the age of 92.
The Conjuring 3, released in 2021, paid tribute to Lorraine, who played a pivotal role in the trilogy and spent considerable time with actress Vera Farmiga, who portrayed her on the big screen.
