Lauding project ‘Sehyog’ launched by Jalandhar Commissionerate Police, the Director General Of Police Punjab Mr Gaurav Yadav today announced to replicate it in other districts of state.
“It is a wonderful initiative taken by Commissionerate Police under leadership of Police Commissioner Mr Swapan Sharma and will be started in other districts too” said the DGP, while participating a meeting launched here under Sehyog project.
The DGP said that better Police Public partnership is the need of hour to check the crime and it is heartening to see that Police and public are working in tandem with each other under this project. He said that this project is a brainchild of Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma and will be replicated in other parts of state too. Mr Gaurav Yadav categorically said that such initiatives are need of hour to ensure that crime rate is checked with active support of general public.
The Commissioner of Police said that with more than 500 meetings under the project, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police has set a new benchmark in community policing. He said that in these meetings Police officers have reached to the people and sought their active role in law enforcement, crime detection and crime prevention. Mr Gaurav Yadav said that the result of these untiring efforts is that today people from all walks of life are attending this meeting and giving their suggestions.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police said that as a part of this project the Commissionerate Police has identified 850 organisations in the city and had held regular meetings with them. Mr Swapan Sharma said that the main concern is to enhance public Police participation for checking the crime rate in the city adding that the major thrust area of Police has been to check crime, curb the menace of traffic and wean away the scourge of drugs. He said that the aim is to bring positive change in the society for which proactive role should be played by people.
