On Wednesday, 27th November, actor Dhanush and Aishwarya Rajinikanth have officially been granted a divorce by the Chennai Family Welfare Court.
The couple has announced their separation on social media. The shared a note informing about their divorce and urging for privacy. The note read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa/Dhanush and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better. Please do respect our decision and give us the needed privacy to deal with this.”
The court's verdict has come after both the individuals expressed their want to get separated from each other. The couple had appeared before the family court in Chennai on 21st November where they expressed their desire to part their ways. Following this, the judge had adjourned the hearing to 27th November when the final verdict was expected to be delivered.
Previously, this case had been heard three times but both Dhanush and Aishwarya had failed to attend any of the sessions.
Dhanush had married Aishwarya, actor Rajinikanth's elder daughter on 18th November 2004. They have two sons, Yatra and Linga. They were born in 2006 and 2010 respectively. After spending years together, the couple announced their separation on 17th January 2022 and git officially divorced on 27th November 2024.
Dhanush is a 41-year-old Indian actor, filmmaker, lyricist and playback singer who majorly works in Tamil cinema whereas Aishwarya Rajinikanth is an Indian film director and playback singer who works in Tamil cinema. They live close to each other in Poes Garden so that children spend time with both parents.
Recently, actress Nayanthara had slammed actor Dhanush as he refused permission to use footage from her 2015 Tamil movie Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in her Netflix wedding documentary. Dhanush had filed a civil suit against her and accused her of using footage from the movie without his consent.
