Police claim that the attack is linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has a history of violent activities both in Canada and India.

The shooting incident, which was captured on video and went viral on social media, shows a gunman dressed in black firing 11 rounds at the gate of Dhillon’s Vancouver-area home. The video generated widespread concern among fans and prompted heightened security measures for the singer. Gangster Rohit Godara, an affiliate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post. He linked the shooting to Dhillon’s recent collaboration with Bollywood actor Salman Khan, speculating on the gang’s motivations following the release of their song Old Money on August 9.

Gang Connections and Criminal History

Rohit Godara, a prominent figure within the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has been implicated in over 35 criminal cases, primarily in Rajasthan. He is a key figure supplying weapons to the gang, according to investigations by various law enforcement agencies, including the Punjab Police. Godara and the Bishnoi gang have been connected to multiple high-profile crimes across India, including the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022. The gang also reportedly targeted Salman Khan in an April 14 shooting incident outside his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area.

The attack on Dhillon’s home has raised concerns in both Indian and Canadian law enforcement agencies, prompting an international alert. Indian authorities have been informed about Sharma’s potential escape, and Canadian agencies are collaborating with their Indian counterparts to ensure that all involved parties are brought to justice. The cross-border nature of the case underscores the growing influence of criminal networks that span both countries, complicating efforts to curb organized crime activities targeting public figures.

The incident is part of a larger trend of gang-related violence affecting members of the Punjabi entertainment industry, both in India and abroad.
