On Monday, 28th October, an athlete named Beant Singh has shared a video of the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium in Delhi that was messed up after the Dil-Luminati concert. Beant slammed the organisers of the concert and expressed his disappointment and frustration by sharing the video on his Instagram handle.
In the video shared by the athlete, JLN stadium is seen in a terrible condition with garbage and alcohol bottles lying all around. The Dil-Luminati concert was held in the stadium on 26th and 27th October. The concert was attended by at least 70,000 people over two days. Following which, when the athlete reached the stadium for the practice, he saw the terrible condition of the stadium. He shared a video where he slammed the organisers and said that Indian athletes have been shown their level.
He explained the situation and said that this is the stadium where athletes practice but then the stadium remains closed for almost 10 days because of these events. People come here, dance and drink alcohol. He also claimed that these people break the practice equipment like hurdles used by athletes. He then said that after four years there will be geniuses who will point that medals do not come in the Olympics even after such huge population. He said that this happens because there is no respect and support for sportspersons in this country. He also claimed that the grassroot sportspersons are not supported.
His followers have supported him, one of the users wrote, “Finally someone with logic and guts, it's not just this concert in every town where a decent ground exists you will find a circus, amusement or a magic show going on.” “Finally, someone said it,” another commented. Beant is a runner and he has around 33 K followers on Instagram.
However, according to the contract signed between the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Saregama India, which is one of the organisers of the event, the stadium should be handed over in the ready condition by 1st November as the cleaning will take at least 24 hours, it is expected to be cleaned up by 29th October.
