Legal trouble has been mounting on Punjabi singer & actor Diljit Dosanjh, a day after his concert in Ludhiana. Diljit Dosanjh on New Year's Eve performed at PAU ground Ludhiana and concluded the famous Dil-Luminati India Tour.
A complaint was filed by Punditrao Dharenavar, an assistant professor from Chandigarh against the Punjabi singer & actor. The complaint prompted the Deputy Director of the Women and Child Department, Government of Punjab, to issue a formal notice to Ludhiana's District Commissioner, urging them to prevent the singer from performing certain songs during his live show on December 31, 2024.
The notice, which was addressed to the local authorities in Ludhiana, specifically calls for a ban on songs that have been accused of promoting alcohol, such as Patiala Pegg, 5 Tara Theke, and Case (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya), even if modified with altered lyrics.
It is alleged that Diljit sang songs promoting alcohol and drugs despite the ban. In this regard, Panditrao Dharenwar, an assistant professor from Chandigarh, said that if action is not taken in the matter, then he will prepare to go to court against the singer. Panditrao Dharenwar said that in the decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court in the year 2019, instructions were given to the police, that songs promoting alcohol, drugs or violence should not be played at public events.
Diljit had said in a concert in Ahmedabad on November 17 that if the Government of India bans alcohol, then he will stop making songs on them.
