Humanity had to experience another day of immorality, just like every other. According to UNICEF, India is home to an estimated 30 million orphans and abandoned children. Less than 500,000 are in institutional care, and only 3,000 to 4,000 are adopted each year, leaving thousands of others to their dismay. Over 150,000 children lost parents to COVID-19 alone. If those numbers don’t bring tears to your eyes, this story will surely do.
Khushboo Patani, Disha Patani's sister, saved a baby left in an abandoned building near Disha's residence in Bareilly. Living with her father, retired police circle officer Jagdish Patani, Khushboo’s swift response has earned her widespread praise.
According to the video online, Kushboo and her mother were the first two people in the locality to hear the baby cry.
While on her morning walk, Khushboo Patani heard the faint cry of a baby coming from an abandoned building nearby. Without hesitation, she climbed over a wall to investigate the source of the sound. Inside the building, Kushboo found a baby (whom she named 'Radha' later), about nine to ten months old, lying injured on the ground.
Concerned for the child’s well-being, Khushboo immediately sprang into action, carefully rescuing the infant. Her quick thinking and brave actions saved the child, who was later given medical attention. The baby had injuries on her face and was in huge distress.
The baby is in safe hands…
Following the rescue, Khushboo brought the baby back to her home, administered first aid, and then alerted the local authorities. The infant was subsequently taken to the district hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have begun an inquiry to identify the person responsible for leaving the infant in the abandoned building. The baby is in the safe hands of the authorities, and hopefully, she will find a safe home to stay.
“There was no direct access to the structure, so she took the courageous step of climbing over a wall to reach the spot. Inside, she found an infant lying on the ground, crying and with visible injuries on the face,” said Circle Officer (City-I) Pankaj Srivastava.
“Efforts are underway to trace those responsible for leaving the baby in such a condition,” added Srivastava.
