India in the last 24 hours has recorded 362,727 new Covid-19 infections and 4,120 deaths on Thursday, taking the total case tally to 23,703,665, according to the Health Ministry website. With this, the total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 23,703,665.
About 3,52,181 discharges in the last 24 hours were reported, taking the total recovery to 1,97,34,823.
So far a total of 17,72,14,256 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.
A rise in cases has been recorded despite a slight fall in the number of tests. A total of 18,64,594 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. On May 11, about 19,83,804 samples were tested.
Meanwhile, Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka have decided to halt the vaccination for the age group between 18-44 years, until further orders amid an acute shortage of vaccines. The vaccination drive for the age group 18-44 had begun on May 1. Most states are yet to start the vaccination drive for the 18+ group.
Maharashtra is the worst-hit state by the second wave of covid-19, has reported 46,781 new Covid-19 cases and 920 deaths, followed by Karnataka (39,998), Kerala (43,529), Uttar Pradesh (18,125), Tamil Nadu (30,355), Andhra Pradesh (21,452), West Bengal (20,377), Delhi (13,287) in the past 24 hours.

India is fighting an ugly battle against the pandemic with the highest rise in the number of cases and deaths which is worsened by an acute shortage of oxygen, beds and other medical resources.
However, the Centre's data projects signs of hope as daily recoveries passed daily cases in the last few days, a signal of the curve is being flattened.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday held a meeting to review the availability of oxygen and medicines in the country. The supply of the oxygen at present is three times the supply during the first wave peak, the PM was told.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the centre had also sanctioned ₹322.5 crores from the PM-CARES fund to procure 1,50,000 units of Oxycare System.
