According to a survey by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the average wealth of an MLA in India is close to Rs 13.63 crore, and those legislators who have criminal cases that have been officially reported have more assets (Rs 16.36 crore) than those who do not have criminal cases (Rs 11.45 crore).

Puttaswamy Gowda owns assets of Rs 1,267 crore, according to the ADR report. Priyakrishna, the youngest Congress MLA in the Karnataka assembly, is listed in third place. The 39-year-old has Rs. 1,156 crore in reported assets. It's interesting to note that M Krishnappa, Priyakrishna's father, is ranked 18th among Karnataka's top billionaires.

On the contrary, Nirmal Kumar Dhara, a West Bengal representative for the Indus seat, is the lowest-income MLA on record, with assets of just Rs. 1,700 and no debts. Bhagirathi Murulya of the BJP is the poorest elected MLA in Karnataka, with assets worth Rs 28 lakh and liabilities around Rs 2 lakh.

With 32 candidates in Karnataka's recent assembly elections having assets worth more than Rs 100 crore, the state elected the most billionaires in the nation. In addition to the 19 billionaires from the Congress, there are nine billionaires from the BJP, two from the JD(S), one from the KRPP, and one independent.

In contrast, the Karnataka legislature likewise saw a large "gain" in the number of legislators elected, with 62% of the 224 legislators in the state having graduated from high school or college (50%) or completed a postgraduate program (12%).
