Shivakumar claimed to have a total of Rs 273 crore of movable assets and Rs 1,140 crore in immovable assets in his 2023 declaration to the Election Commission. The richest MLA in India is DK Shivakumar, who was followed in wealth by another Karnataka legislator, KH Puttaswamy Gowda. The 39-year-old has Rs. 1,156 crore in reported assets. It's interesting to note that M Krishnappa, Priyakrishna's father, is ranked 18th among Karnataka's top billionaires.

On the contrary, Nirmal Kumar Dhara, a West Bengal representative for the Indus seat, is the lowest-income MLA on record, with assets of just Rs. 1,700 and no debts. Bhagirathi Murulya of the BJP is the poorest elected MLA in Karnataka, with assets worth Rs 28 lakh and liabilities around Rs 2 lakh.
With 32 candidates in Karnataka's recent assembly elections having assets worth more than Rs 100 crore, the state elected the most billionaires in the nation. In addition to the 19 billionaires from the Congress, there are nine billionaires from the BJP, two from the JD(S), one from the KRPP, and one independent.
