Doctors of Jalandhar Civil Hospital go on strike after 'drunk' journalist misbehaves with interns & on-duty doctors

Jalandhar Civil Hospital Protest, Doctors Strike Jalandhar Civil Hospital: On Monday, a long queue was seen at Jalandhar's Civil Hospital after doctors went on strike. OPD services were closed due to which patients suffered a lot. Only emergency services were going on.  The hospital was closed yesterday due to Sunday, so on Monday patients come in large numbers to the OPD of the hospital.

Jalandhar Civil Hospital Doctors' Strike Reason

Regarding the strike, the doctors said that two days ago a journalist had a scuffle with a doctor after drinking alcohol. The doctors said that they have given a complaint to the police including senior officials regarding this matter, but till now no action has been taken against the journalist. Due to this today they have announced to go on strike and keep the OPD services closed. The doctors said that keeping the patients in mind, emergency services are going on from their side.

Dr. MP Singh, Vice President of Punjab Civil Medical Services Association, and Dr. Harveer Kaur, in charge of emergency services, said that the scuffle by the journalist with the doctor in the hospital is very worrying. He said that a complaint was given to Doctor Geeta Kataria regarding this matter yesterday. After this, a meeting was held with all the doctors today. In the meeting, all the doctors demanded the Police Commissioner to register a case against the journalist.

The doctors said that OPD services will remain closed until a case is registered against the journalist. As per the information received, Dr. Yashika Sharma and Dr. Shamsher Singh, who came to do an internship in the emergency of Civil Hospital, had accused the journalist of assaulting the doctor on duty under the influence of alcohol. Dr. Geeta revealed that the journalist is from Punjab Kesari.
