The government has advised the citizens against the signing up in the Starlink Internet Services, by the billionaire Elon Musk. The department of Telecommunication has said that Indians should avoid investing in internet services as it is not licensed in the country.
The government said while warning the citizens, “It is hereby informed to the public at large that the said company has not obtained any license/authorisation for rendering satellite-based internet services that are being booked on their website. Given the fact that Starlink is not a licensee, the public is advised not to subscribe to Starlink services being advertised.”

The telecomm department has issued a statement to Elon Musk’s company to get a license before offering a satellite-based internet experience.
The internet service provider company has started its business in India on November 1 and according to the government of India, it has also started pre-selling its services.
The government said, “It has come to notice that M/s Starlink has started pre-selling/booking of the satellite-based Starlink Internet Services in India. The same is also evident from the website of Starlink (www.starlink.com) wherein satellite-based internet services can be booked by users in Indian territory”.

The company will require a “requisite license” by the telecomm department to sell its services in the country.
For now, Elon Musk’s company has not made any comment on this.
